Bipolar and Burnout

I took on a second job that turned out to be a lot bigger than expected and has zero support. The hours are increasing in my first job now that summer is coming. There was also a lot of family stress Sept/Oct. I saw some of the warning signs but also missed a lot. Sunday night everything came to a head and everything was a mess.

I'm safe now and doing the work required to find my equilibrium but I'm also telling myself I need to be better by the end of the week.

I know this is unrealistic and I probably need to take a couple of weeks off and reset properly, but I don't want to. I could also do with some professional help but I don't want people to know I can't cope. I live in a small country town now and I don't want people knowing my business. I see the doctors and nurses in town everyday during my work day. My gp is 3hrs away, my psychologist only works 3 days a week, when not on holiday and don't have a psychiatrist because the wait list is enormous and I am generally stable.

I am tired and am worried this episode isn't over. I don't want to have to rebuild everything from the ground up again.

Re: Bipolar and Burnout

Hey @AvaTurtle ,

The burnout sounds so real. You are certainly not alone when you mentioned that you don't want people knowing your business, seeing you live in a rural town.

At the same time, what is your outlet?

From my own experiences, when things are boiling up within and there is no outlet, things might come crashing. Hence I'm hearing burnout.

I wonder if psychosocial support services like the connection you develop on the forums can help you through this? As a bit of an outlet?

Also, you can check out SANE's Guided Service to see if you are eligible for this 14-16 week program. https://www.sane.org/referral

If you are not eligible for the Guided Service, we also have Recovery Club: https://www.sane.org/recovery-club

These are all free of charge and confidential.

We are here to support you.

Re: Bipolar and Burnout

Thank you.

The guided service looks great, it didn't like my postcode though. I filled in the form for the second one.

I'm hoping the forum helps. I have isolated myself (again) and need to start fixing that.

Hi @AvaTurtle just a lil tip, if you want other members to be notified that you've responded, you can tag them - use the @ symbol and a drop down will appear, and you can choose their name. If their name isn't there, you can type it out and it should then appear for you to select, then it will show up in blue, like this: @tyme

Re: Bipolar and Burnout

Hey @AvaTurtle , how are you travelling?

Re: Bipolar and Burnout

@tyme Pretty tired. I called in sick today which makes me feel unreliable and a bit useless.

I have made a doctors appointment though and joined the 2nd program you mentioned.

I also opened my laptop and sent out a reminder of why I was hired as well as notice for the end of the year if we can't agree on workload.

So it's not much but it is progress.

Thank you for asking. I hope you had a good day.
