Hi eth, I dont know if it was me who mentioned the NDIS thing. I have been on it for a year. You have to prove your condition is permanent. I have Bipolar two and BPD.

Hi @catladybookworm and welcome to the forums. Yes NDIS do fund people with mental health conditions (what they call 'psychosocial disability'). I have bipolar 1 and complex PTSD as my main diagnoses. There's a thread called Anyone started with the NDIS? that chronicles my fight to be accepted and journey since then. Lots of other people have posted there too over time. It's pretty long now, but if you read the first post there, then find pages 56 and 57 that's probably where the most useful information is about how to get accepted. You have to have reports proving your condition is 'lifelong and significant' - and I stress the lifelong part. Really hard to prove with mental health. Reports from clinical psychologist, psychiatrist and occupational therapist are very helpful. Plus you need to prove the functional affects of your disability in 5 different areas that they list on the initial application form. Feel free to join the discussion there and ask any questions you have.
Hey and welcome to you too @WriterMelb . I mentioned that I have NDIS in my first post on this thread yesterday. Good on you for getting it too. I know how hard it can be to be accepted. You're also welcome to join the discussion on the abovementioned thread, especially if you have any helpful tips for those new to the whole business.

Hope you're all travelling well today. And a big welcome to the forums if you're new. Sorry I've missed responding to some of you this week - haven't been around much as I'm finding I'm exhausted after my outings and have had comitments the last 4 days in my off-line life. Plus managing complex PTSD and bipolar 1.
I'll be here on and off today if anyone wants to catch up with me. Or just share with others in this space about what's happening for you or anything else. This is a good place to meet new people too, hopefully find some with common experiences, or just hang out on a quiet day.
Hope to chat with people today - it's a free day for me for a change.
If not, do take care xx
Please feel free to tag anyone I've missed.
