hi everyone pretty big update from me in regards to moving forward
As many of you know i have been a carer for the last 11 years, last week i received a call from a care facility who has offered a permanent residential position for grandad. i went at the end of last week to have a look around etc and have been in communication with the admissions officer. Permanent placement has been accepted!
The care home will use the 6 weeks respite allocated to carers first so that its not wasted but during that time he will be transitioning to permanent.
All paperwork has been sorted out and submitted and early next week respite begins. all the tough family conversations have also been had and thankfully there has not been any major arguments over it and it seems the ultimatum chat i had with most of them last year has sunk in and have realized its a big responsibility and no one has capacity to do the job and have accepted this may be the best option all around now.
This means essentially my time as his carer will be ending, i will still be there for him but it wont be at home and the way it is right now.
This also means that i will also be loosing the house and will only be able to have a 3 month lease on the house i am in once it switches to a permanent placement. It also means loosing the pension and despite my own health i will need to work more to cover my share of the bills as well as pops for the next 6 weeks and then ongoing obviously.
there are going to many changes coming for me in the next few months and without much external support im already overwhelmed but i know it is a process and each day something can be achieved in continuing to move forward
