😆 Hi @Former-Member @Former-Member .....

Re: Far and Away

Hi @Former-Member

Answering your earlier question .... I am away till mid-Feb ... we have family over here and a place to stay .... we try to come often cos it keeps the kids bilingual and bicultural when they are immersed in both, and the cost of living is much lower for us here so it pays for the cost of the tickets by the end of the trip .....

3 course meal in a good restaurant = approx. $14.40 pp

Souvlaki = approx $1.80

Can feed the whole family for under $10 if we want to .....

Cost of utilities low, travel costs low, public transport readily available and cheap as ....

Re: Far and Away

hello @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

good morning friends

what a wonderful way to spend time with family. exploring a different country, different culture, foods, lifestyles, wildlife, architecture....the list just goes on and on.

you sketching as well.. good for you in the moment.... good for later to reflect...good to share with family for memories

i understand there are difficult moments, but those moments would be just as difficult anywhere in the world, so what a brilliant idea to change the scenery, change the setting.

you are teaching your family so much... despite the struggles,,,despite illness...life can go on...supporting one another...allowing space....respecting one another's differences.

a must for a book ...sketches...photography...thoughts of each and everyone of you no matter how minute.

thank you   Faith-and-Hope  you have given me some faith and some hope.   i am in a very bad place at the moment.   so thank you.

i want to read more of your life during your travels.

I am also feeling safer reading these posts alongside my fellow companions on here. I know that I am  not alone in my struggles. I know that they too find hope here.

stay safe

Re: Far and Away

Hi @Former-Member ... 😊💕

Thanks @Former-Member .... it's quite a panacea for me to ba able to share so openly here .... and yes .... the problem exists despite the setting, and distraction, distraction, distraction is all part of needing to support our own mental
health as we walk along with WH until this thing runs out of steam eventually .... and boy, he is a fiercely determined person, so we are dealing with that sort of drive fuelling his e.d. Support services said long ago that these patterns of behaviour are not sustainable, and my common sense is still announcing that daily from the back of my mind somewhere ..... but bl##dy h#ll he's doing a bl##dy good job of it !!!! 😬😠😡

Anyway .... being in a hotel and sharing a room meant a somewhat early night for me, and I am happy to announce a 7 hour sleep achievement .... 😄 .... that's pretty good for me of late .....

❤️

Re: Far and Away

Woohoo @Faith-and-Hope 7 hours sleep 🎉🎊

i laughed at the boat ferry correction. What's on your agenda for today?

Re: Far and Away

Hi @Former-Member .... 🤗❤️

Coffee is first on my agenda today ❣  WH about to set off on The Morning Jog .... in -3 temp .... and I'm hungry now, so gonna go see if MIL is up to coming downstairs for an early coffee.

After that I'm gonna head into these spa waters again.  They limit you to 30min sessions morning and afternoon, and I could see why by last night .... it knocks you out !  This hotel has an indoor pool fed by the hot springs, but there is an outdoor pool available to the general public .... guess the indoor one is too .... but here you require a medical interview to go to swimming pools, or at some places a dr's certificate .... rules for public hygiene ... but I haven't asked.  We were interviewed yesterday, and it's no biggie, but this is a country with a lot of illegal immigrants, and very difficult to control borders unlike Aus .... so this is one way of managing public health.  It may be common in Europe.

After that we are going to make our way into the town and see what is on offer in terms of tavernas (restaurants / cafes) for lunch, before returning for an afternoon swim, dinner in the hotel cafe, then more board games (aka the coffee bar thing) in the evening.  WH set this as a daily agenda yesterday for the days we are here .... seeking our approval for this variation on The Regimen .... but it is clear that he is working out how to increase the kids' interest in family time .... to his credit.  They are not being shy about slinging off at him with baby dragon humour - S2 in particular pushing the boundaries - but he is taking it all in his stride with an amused smirk on his face.  He has a strong "joker" sub-personality himself, but the paranoia seems more reduced at this point, so he is not as gurparded about accepting the ribbing.

I think the week will be good for us in terms of creating more good memories to carry forward from this time.  Everything is still tinged with sadness, but that's just how it is.  I am hoping after future treatment, the good parts will stay as warmth and consolation about what hasn't been lost through all this, and that feels very important.

Feeling the love ... and sending heaps back to you .... ❤️💕
