@MissinTooth damn! you're stronger than me! my first instinct is to play along with that I'm going to the social occasion, all the while thinking of an excuse to use to cancel at the last minute, I've upset a few people doing this in the last few years. I'd only go if I couldn't come up with a decent excuse or I had no other option.

@Sparky79 not strong...just stubborn. I do what helps me to feel safe in social situations. Sounds like you have strategies too.

@MissinTooth Ahh but you have to be strong to be stubborn, stubbornness to resist requires strength. Stubbornness can be a great tool when it is used for good, such as being too stubborn to give up and let bad people / thoughts / feelings win!
