Re: Topic Tuesday // Recognising and managing mania // 28 March, 7 - 9pm AEDT

Trouble is I'll overspend, start big projects I never finish, rally people to join me then drop out... Talk fast and get heapa of ideas, The online quizes always score high bipolar traits. Is it worth looking into this late in life?

Re: Topic Tuesday // Recognising and managing mania // 28 March, 7 - 9pm AEDT

By the sounds of it, people have their own approaches to 'recovery'. I doubt there a right or wrong way here as long as people are safe, but I think it's important to acknowledge that works for some may not work for others.

@Queenie - I'm interested in the mood tracker you use. Do you find it beneficial and would you care to share what it is?

@soul I use optimism https://www.optimismonline.com/

On a related note, I have said this a number of times, but it bears repeating. Getting the right medication and then sticking with it is critical.

@davidharper_bal getting the right medication and sticking to it is an individual choice. the message you are sending about medication goes against the Recovery framework. It is up to each person to decide what supports they wish to engage with, they can reflect on what has happened before and choose meds with other supports or not include meds within their chosen supports. The NSW Mental Health Commission recently created a postcard about medication which asks about the impact of medication to someone's life. The benefits of meds can be varied during an individuals life. they can at times be a hindrance. individual choice, always

@JasJac, I think we are going to agree to disagree on this one. At Bipolar Australia, we believe that medication and psychological treatment are the foundations of recovery for Bipolar Disorder.

just google 'online mood tracker'. I pay to use mine but it is simply www.moodtracker.com. I was using moodpanda as it was free but it doesn't alert caregivers.

@Former-Member it's never too late to find out!

Re: Topic Tuesday // Recognising and managing mania // 28 March, 7 - 9pm AEDT

Hi @Former-Member,

It's a few pages back, but there were a few posts on getting a diagnosis. I think if you feel that you have not been properly diagnosed, then getting another diagnosis could be good.

@Queenie mood trackers are a valuable tool. Great link!

Re: Topic Tuesday // Recognising and managing mania // 28 March, 7 - 9pm AEDT

@mrkotter another great link! There's heaps of mood trackers out there so the right one for you is very much an individual choice.

With only five minutes to spare, @davidharper_bal and @SusanaBA would you like to tell us a bit about International Bipolar day?
