Needing help regulating my life-bipolar

Hi all,

I'm new to SANE and I suffer from bipolar. Recently I've gone off the meds due to an attempt, the medication ruining my motivation and also making me feel ill. I have been hospitalised twice since the start of the year and I'm really trying to make a life for myself without medication. I work a full time monday to friday job which I got to try and have a routine, however I am stuck in this loop where I have withdrawn from everyone, started touching drugs again after being two months sober and cannot and i mean CANNOT find happiness or contentment in anything i do. My manic self cant stick to anything (dropped out of uni twice, gone through 4-5 jobs over the past year and moved cities 3 times over the past 2-3 years).  I am really in the hurt locker and I'm trying to stick to something to have some sort of normality in my life (I've been chop suey with meds, psychs, gps, hospitals etc.) and I'd really really like any sort of suggestions.

Thank you xxx

Re: Needing help regulating my life-bipolar

hey @izyb773

I hope you find SANE forums helpful for where you are at in your mental health journey

Sounds like you've been around the place doing lots. I get that you'd want to settle down with something consistent.

Are you seeing a specialist atm? What have they said if you are seeing them?

I am currently in the search for work too and it's come down to a case of full time or part time. That's where I am at currently. I've fininshed my uni course and I had dreams once, but they've been put on hold for a while now. But so be it. I guess we all need to manage our "stuff" don't we?

What do you think could be done to regulate your life?

Re: Needing help regulating my life-bipolar

Welcome to the forum @izyb773. We hope that you are able to find the support you are looking for. Similar to what @Flying_Hams says, have you been consistent with your medical team lately? If not, you may be able to start small and create a support network, who will then help create some stability for you.

Re: Needing help regulating my life-bipolar

@izyb773welcome to the forums 🙂  New here myself.  I feel for you and going through similar troubles.  I don't have much to add , other than to take comfort and strength in the small things you are able to do.  Holding down a job and having a stable routine is no small thing.  I've been diagnosed for a year with bipolar, but, i've been pretty stable on the medications.  Were you weened off the meds wit help or did you decide to go cold turkey for yourself?  I'm not judging in any way.  Thanks for sharing your experiences.

My one  regret is probably returning to full time work before I was ready.  My employer was pretty good with everything but looking back I should have taken more time.
